Head of Scenic Design
The University of California, Irvine invites applications for a full-time, tenured position in the area of Scenic Design. Join a dynamic design team training graduate scenic design students in a three-year professional degree program and also teaching undergraduate students.
Candidates for this position must have outstanding professional credits in theatrical scenic design, with a strong commitment to teaching, training, and working in a university environment. Expertise in CAD and CGI software is essential and experience in art direction and production design is a plus. Position entails recruiting and mentoring graduate students, collaborating with other design specialties, as well as collaborating with the directing and acting programs. Candidates must demonstrate a pedagogical and professional profile that is compatible with distinguished graduate training at a major university. Position is complemented by a part-time instructor and professional staff in the scene shop. USA membership and an MFA degree or equivalent professional experience are expected.
