WELCOME TO THE THEATRE GUILD!
It's Time to Build the Guild
Hello and welcome to our new Theatre Guild website! We've developed these pages in an effort to open our doors to those of you who are continuing to support Drama at UCIrvine and those of you who are considering becoming Theatre Guild members. We want to make membership meaningful to you and we hope that you enjoy these web pages.
We're deeply indebted to our continuing Theatre Guild members - thank you for being staunch supporters of drama students and the department that guides them. We've enjoyed your support for the past 25 years and we can't thank you enough for your contributions to our efforts and enthusiastic attendance at our plays. Mille Grazie!
This year, we're forming a new Theatre Guild board of directors. Our hope is to increase numbers significantly over the coming years. Many of the patrons I chat with say, "UCIrvine Drama is the best kept secret in Orange County. I bring my friends to shows and they can't believe the high quality of acting, direction, and design." Well, it's time to blow up that secret. Let's get the word out - let's build the Guild! To this end, the Drama Department will give you two complimentary tickets to a Stage One production to use for friends, family, or acquaintances that you bring to a Theatre Guild event. We know they'll have a delightful evening, right? So, bring them along.
We're going to spice up Theatre Guild events this year. We'll have our usual stimulating Thursday night pre-show receptions for Stage One productions. We'll also be opening rehearsals to Theatre Guild members and offering backstage tours on Theatre Guild nights. We're planning to bring successful alumni in to chat with you. And if you'd like to meet with other members of an artistic team - including directors, choreographers, designers, stage managers, dramaturges, or actors - let us know and we'll make it happen.
Anyone can be a Theatre Guild member. You might be interested to know that longtime members include faculty and staff at UCIrvine (and a couple of Nobel Prize-winners), chancellors (and the UC President), students, alumni, parents, and, most important, members throughout the Orange County theatergoing community.
