How to Apply

The coursework requirement in the Joint Doctoral Program gives students wide breadth of study in differing genres and periods of drama and performance theory and practice, and allows them maximum freedom to choose courses of particular interest to them. The openness of seminar work reflects our principle that among the Program’s chief strengths is exposure to the diverse interests and approaches of the faculty, and those of faculty from across the UCI and UCSD campuses, rather than imposing a highly-structured series of required courses. Students devise the "arc" of their seminar work with close mentoring advice by doctoral faculty.
