WHO IS METRO THEATRE COMPANY?
Metro Theatre Company is a UCI undergraduate-focused Registered Campus Organization with peer mentorship opportunities for graduate students to aid and further the education of the breadth of our student body through hands-on experience on and offstage. From performers to directors to designers, their productions are entirely student-run to allow entrepreneurship and creativity to thrive amongst multiple disciplines. Putting on a show practices cross-training skills which is why Metro aims to uplift students of a variety of majors to join the company from Drama to Sociology to STEM. With logistical support from faculty sponsor and Head of Undergraduate Acting, Cynthia Bassham, they established themselves as an independent company and Registered Campus Organization within one year.

RESEARCH-FUNDED UNDERGRADUATE ARTS PROJECT
This production is a research-funded project through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). UROP provides grants for UCI faculty-mentored undergraduate research projects and creative endeavors. You may have seen Metro’s last musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, in the Spring of 2023 which was also funded by UROP.

Spring Awakening
is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
