SUMMARY:

Christmastime at King Arthur’s court, in the midst of court revelry, a stranger, a giant green knight on a green horse, appears in the courtroom and issues a challenge. Honorable Gawain accepts the call, and a magical story unfolds of a beheading and a perilous winter quest through the wild world to find the Green Knight. Sanctuary is given by a great lord and his seductive wife, and Gawain ultimately finds his way to the Green Chapel where his life hangs in the balance. A tale of the mysteries of the seasons, and of honor and truth--- told through movement, music and projection in the style of CounterBalance Theater.

Translated by the UK Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, we adapt the story for a physical theater rendition where disembodied heads speak, the hidden animals of the forest emerge, and nature demands respect.

"Full of make-believe and festivity" --- Wall Street Journal

"I enjoyed it greatly for its kick and music; its high spirits, its many memorable passages. I enjoyed it because, like the Gawain poet, translator Armitage is some storyteller." --The Guardian

Noises Off

By Michael Frayn

Eli Simon, director

Gretchen Ugalde, scenic design

TBC, costume design

Hayden Kirschbaum, lighting design

TBC, sound design

Daniel Rosales, stage management

SUMMARY:

Noises Off is a brilliantly crafted, side-splitting farce that pulls back the curtain on a theater company in total disarray. As the hapless cast and crew attempt to stage the fictional play Nothing On, everything that can go wrong does, from forgotten lines and missing props to romantic entanglements and mistimed entrances. Doors slam, sardines fly, and egos clash in this uproarious play-within-a-play, where backstage drama and onstage mishaps collide in a whirlwind of slapstick chaos. Hailed as “the funniest farce ever written” (New York Post), Michael Frayn’s Noises Off is a love letter to the theater and a masterclass in perfectly timed comedic mayhem.

"The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is festival of delirium." - The New York Times

"Bumper car brilliance [...] If laughter is indeed the best medicine, Noises Off is worth its weight in Cipro." - New York Daily News

"The funniest farce ever written! Never before has side-splitting taken on a meaning dangerously close to the non-metaphorically medical." - New York Post

By Benjamin Benne

Juliette Carrillo, director

Ashley Mendez, scenic design

TBC, costume design

Rachel Fields, lighting design

TBC, sound design

Sammie Moore, stage management

SUMMARY:

Marina swims in a circle of routine every week—she goes to the local  fish store, buys a catfish, and makes soup.  But this week, her usual fishmonger has disappeared and the comfort of ritual has been destroyed. But does destruction only mean pain and suffering, or could it also mean the possibility for new and grander experiences? Through surreal storytelling and dreamlike sequences, this piece delved into themes of grief, spiritual disconnection and the enduring ties of family. Engage in an intimate, atmospheric and subtle emotional exploration with Marina as she reconstructs a deconstructed life.
